Banquet Set Up

Department: Banquets
Location: Franklin, TN

Southall Farm & Inn is a premier destination bringing nature, produce & people together in a powerful & unique way. The Banquet Set up Houseman oversees the cleanliness, safety, & aesthetic appeal of banquet rooms/locations around the entire property.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in setting up banquet rooms & event spaces prior to guest arrival.
  • Participate in loading, unloading, & transportation of supplies/equipment.
  • Provide support to servers at times by carrying beverage trays, refilling water glasses, & clearing plates. (Typically, on Holidays)
  • Maintain cleanliness of banquet areas by handling trash removal & general cleaning duties.
  • Monitor inventory levels & notify staff of necessary replenishments.
  • Collaborate cooperatively with other staff members to ensure successful events.
  • Respond to guest requests with proper knowledge as well as resolve any issues in a prompt & professional manner.
  • Possess knowledge of safety & emergency procedures to ensure a safe & secure environment for guests/staff.
  • Confirm with the Banquet Captain that the room is set up to their satisfaction.
  • Maintain cleanliness standards, keeping excellent condition/handling of equipment & surrounding work areas.
  • To immediately report all suspicious occurrences & hazardous conditions.
  • To attend all mandatory meetings as directed.
  • Report on all guest request changes to Banquet Captain and Banquet Manager.
  • To check all banquet rooms daily & immediately report any maintenance problem to the Engineering Department.

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous Banquet and Event Set-up experience preferred.
  • Room set-up & Breakdown (Tables, chairs, stages, podiums, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of floorplans/room diagrams
  • Safe use of lifting equipment, carts & dollies
  • Ability to lift & move heavy objects (75+ lbs.)
  • Storage organization (Proper storage of banquet equipment)
  • Time Management
  • Attention to detail (Aligning tables, table linens, proper spacing, etc.)
  • Customer service mindset (Occasionally interacting with clients or event managers)
  • Flexibility with scheduling (evenings, weekends, holidays)
  • Cleaning & resetting event spaces

Education and Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Must be able to push, pull and lift 75 lbs.
  • Available to work weekends, evenings, and/or holidays.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for prolonged periods as needed and able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Constantly moving between indoor and outdoor environments, throughout shift.
