Room Attendant

The Room Attendant at Southall plays a critical role in ensuring an exceptional guest experience by maintaining impeccable cleanliness, organization, and attention to detail in guest rooms and hotel facilities. This position requires a commitment to Southall’s high standards of quality, safety, and guest service.

Room Attendants follow a structured training program to ensure proficiency in cleaning techniques, guest interactions, and time management, enabling them to consistently deliver a superior level of hospitality.

Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning and Room Preparation:

  • Room Setup and Layout:
    • Prepare rooms to hotel standards, including arranging furniture and amenities for guest comfort.
    • Ensure rooms are guest-ready with proper presentation and attention to detail.
  • Bathroom Cleaning:
    • Clean and sanitize sinks, toilets, mirrors, tubs, and showers.
    • Restock bathroom supplies, such as toiletries, towels, and tissue.
  • Dusting and Surface Cleaning:
    • Wipe down furniture, lamps, TVs, and other surfaces, ensuring a streak-free finish.
  • Bed Making and Linen Replacement:
    • Change bed linens and make beds with precision and care.
    • Inspect linens and towels for stains or damage and replace as needed.
  • Vacuuming and Floor Care:
    • Vacuum carpets and rugs and mop or sweep hard floors to ensure cleanliness.

Guest Interaction and Communication:

  • Address guest requests promptly and professionally, such as providing extra towels or special room setup.
  • Maintain a friendly and respectful demeanor when interacting with guests.
  • Handle guest complaints or concerns with care and escalate issues to supervisors when necessary.
  • Protect guest privacy and confidentiality during all interactions.

Time Management and Efficiency:

  • Prioritization:
    • Plan and organize work based on check-out times, guest needs, and cleaning schedules.
  • Checklists:
    • Use daily cleaning checklists to ensure consistency and thoroughness.
  • Efficiency:
    • Utilize cleaning equipment (vacuums, carts, steamers) effectively and safely to maximize productivity.

Safety and Hygiene:

  • Follow hotel protocols for handling cleaning supplies and hazardous materials.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines, including fire safety and emergency procedures.
  • Comply with uniform and grooming standards to maintain a professional appearance.

Additional Duties:

  • Restock and maintain room amenities such as coffee supplies, toiletries, and stationery.
  • Report maintenance issues or lost and found items to supervisors immediately.
  • Assist with special room setups, including VIP or occasion-specific decorations.
  • Manage laundry and linen storage, ensuring proper organization and inventory.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Previous experience in housekeeping or hospitality roles is preferred but not required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on guest service.
  • Ability to use cleaning equipment and hotel technology effectively.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Physical strength to lift and move cleaning equipment, linens, and supplies.

Availability:

  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including weekends, holidays, and high-volume days

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
