Spa Director

Southall is a premier destination bringing nature, produce and people together in a powerful and unique way.

Direct responsibilities will include overseeing an effective and consistent spa services program and activities throughout the entire spa and the fitness facility. The Spa Director will work effectively with all departments of the spa and the entire property to ensure that the spa has full-service wellness programming. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing a full-service spa.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all facets of the spa and fitness operation
  • Oversee the development of staff including the hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of all spa and fitness staff, with the assistance of leads and supervisors where appropriate
  • Develop unique programs for Southall Farms including seasonal or monthly featured treatments, quarterly spa events and any possible community-based giving
  • Participate in the review and refinement Standard Operating Procedures for the total spa and fitness
  • Coordinate the development of special spa and wellness program offerings
  • Guide and supervise the on-going program development and staff training in all departments
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of current thinking in each program area, and see that programs are continually updated accordingly
  • Conduct regular, formal staff meetings for the purpose of informing, training and inspiring staff
  • Oversee the scheduling of all spa and fitness staff to maximize the availability of staff for appointment requests while mindful of budgetary staffing costs
  • Coordinate with departments and contracted professionals as necessary to ensure smooth and successful functioning of the spa and fitness facility, e.g., appointments, housekeeping, maintenance, accounting, personnel, purchasing, marketing, public relations, etc.
  • Oversee spa and fitness physical plant to ensure the facilities and equipment are clean and in proper condition and good working order
  • Resolve guest complaints in a manner which promotes positive guest retention
  • Oversee ordering of equipment and supplies, and maintain inventory control for all spa and wellness areas
  • Assist with the development of marketing/advertising and public relations plans to increase the visibility of the spa and wellness programs
  • Represent The Spa at Southall with the press, and participate in public relations events as directed
  • Recommend special projects/promotions, and execute them as directed by management and ownership
  • Train staff in developing and maintaining effective guest relations and hospitality
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all Southall proprietary information and ensure that the spa staff does the same
  • Maintain accurate Southall information and ensure that spa staff is well-informed through daily communication
  • Must be able to work weekends and flexible hours

Skills and Experience:

  • 3-5 years of Spa Health and Wellness management experience in an upscale level hotel, resort, health club or private club
  • Experienced in overseeing personal spa treatments and stress/lifestyle counseling preferred, or experience in overseeing diverse programmatic activities
  • Strong administrative and management skills, including development and management of operating budget
  • Experienced in the management of a large team

  • Excellent interpersonal, team leadership and guest relations skills

Education:

  • 4-year college degree preferred, but combination of education and relevant position training and experience will be considered.
