Massage Therapist

Much like the land that surrounds it, The Spa at Southall is restorative and replenishing, a journey unto itself rooted in the healing properties of the earth. It’s a nourishing, calming experience, with a host of ancient techniques and modern therapies that draw upon the botanicals and other natural ingredients inspired by, and derived from, our farm. The spa features eight individual treatment rooms, two suites, and indulgent amenities that include a steam room, sauna, and relaxation lounge—as well as an outdoor mineral pool overlooking Lake Mishkin and a medicinal herb garden, offering respite and adding to the deep sense of connection. Healthy options, such as salads, smoothies, and fresh juices, are also available and can be enjoyed post-treatment beside Luca’s Garden, surrounded by fragrant herbs and blooms.

Southall is a premier destination bringing nature, produce and people together in a powerful and unique way. The Spa at Southall Massage Therapist will provide expert therapeutic massage and body experiences in accordance with advanced standards training provided by Southall.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent professional massage and body treatments in accordance with spa protocols and accepted certification practices
  • Be flexible with your schedule, supporting the needs of the spa
  • Attend regular department meetings
  • Stay current on the latest thinking pertinent to the massage/body treatment department and become well-versed and trained in its application
  • Explain products and reasons for the prescribed body treatment to members and guests
  • Prepare massage equipment and supplies daily as directed
  • Maintain supply and treatment areas as directed
  • Submit supply requests to the Spa Director in a timely fashion to ensure proper product availability for member and guests
  • Ensure a pleasant visit for each member and guest and maintain effective guest relations
  • Be a patient, courteous listener, and treat all sensitive personal medical information on member and guests in strictest confidence
  • Be knowledgeable and informed regarding all spa and general club programs and services
  • Maintain the cleanliness and neatness of the massage and body treatment areas and spa facilities as directed
  • Report for scheduled shifts promptly and be prepared for work
  • Work cooperatively and professionally with all departments
  • Promote and execute effective retail sales
  • Provide appropriate and consistent levels of guest service and hospitality
  • Maintain personal appearance and grooming standards consistent with the Forbes Five Star Standards
  • Report any problems incurred immediately to the supervisor on duty
  • Work diligently to support Southall philosophy throughout the property
  • Comply with all departmental and company policies
  • Maintain confidentiality of all Southall proprietary information
  • Promote positive guest relations by providing prompt, courteous and efficient service
  • Resolve guest complaints in a manner which promotes positive guest relations
  • Maintain accurate property information through daily use of email and other forms of communication

Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient in all components of massage therapy, e.g., anatomy, physiology, body mechanics and various types of massage
  • Excellent personal appearance, good communication skills and a friendly, congenial personality is a must
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, busy service environment while maintaining composure and focus on the member and guest.

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Have and maintain a current Tennessee state license in massage therapy
  • Minimum one year experience providing massage services in a high-end salon or luxury spa environment
